Judge frees Wa Afrika, now out on bail

NEWSWATCH: Acting High Court Judge Johann Kruger last night ordered that Sunday Times journo Mzilikazi wa Afrika be freed, saying, "One minute spent in custody is one minute too much'"- presumably even more so when three prosecutors had declined to continue the case; Wa Afrika meanwhile has branded the Hawks spokesman a liar, writes Times Live - which has just also reported that Wa Afrika has been granted bail. Back in Cape Town, Helen Zille says the proposed Protection of Information Bill poses the gravest threat to our constitutional democracy since 1994, according to Business Report, and the Dispatch has called on its readers to oppose the bill.
