Sports industry awards open for entries
The Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards in South Africa, the first replication of the awards outside the UK, has opened for entries from all brands, governing bodies, agencies and rights holders in South African sport to celebrate the work produced by the country's sport industry over the last 12 months.
Entries close on 1 October 2010 and the award ceremony takes place on 17 February 2011 at Emperors Palace, Gauteng.
Organised by the Sport Industry Group, entries are open across 13 categories and will recognise and reward the best across governance, marketing, PR, sponsorship, media, advertising and design.

- Sport Brand of the Year;
- Best Use of PR in a Sport Campaign;
- Virgin Atlantic Sport Team of the Year;
- Best TV Sport Commercial;
- Best Use of Digital Communications in Sport;
- Technological Innovation in Sport Award;
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Event or Competition;
- Best Sponsorship of a Sport Team or Individual;
- Best Integrated Sport Marketing Campaign;
- Best Grassroots Development Programme;
- Governing Body of the Year;
- Sport Agency of the Year;
- Virgin Active Sport Leader of the Year;
- SuperSport Outstanding Contribution to South African Sport;
- Lifetime Achievement Award.
