Datamonitor, the global business information provider, has acquired Marketworks Pty Ltd for an undisclosed sum. As Datamonitor's third acquisition in recent months, this is a reinforcement of the company's strategy to expand geographically and strengthen its four pillars of research covering the healthcare, energy, consumer, telecoms and technology markets.
Marketworks has operated as a reseller of Datamonitor products and services in sub-Saharan Africa for several years and this acquisition further extends Datamonitor's presence in the continent. As a wholly owned subsidiary of the Datamonitor Group, the newly formed Marketworks Datamonitor Pty Ltd, will provide clients with access to the parent company's global products and services, underpinned by locally based analyst and consulting resources.
The subsidiary will use its existing client relationships to help develop new research and analysis focused on sub-Saharan markets. Datamonitor's capabilities in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific regions will complement Marketworks existing sales network in the African market, providing customers with even broader geographical expertise and more comprehensive worldwide support.
An excellent fit
Mark Meek, CEO of Datamonitor, comments: "There is an excellent fit between Datamonitor and Marketworks, as proved by our long standing working relationship. Combining the Marketworks sales channel with Datamonitor's extensive research and analysis capabilities enables us to offer our clients an even better service. We are excited about the possibilities that this acquisition creates".
Jonathan Saulez, managing director of Marketworks, who is joining the Datamonitor Group to manage the new subsidiary, said: "Our full integration into group will provide the resources to enable us to strengthen the portfolio for our local clients, across a broader range of areas. Formalising the partnership will help us deepen our relationships with our existing client base as well as extend our reach to new clients and territories".
