SARS seizes 48 000 counterfeit soccer jerseys

The SA Revenue Service (SARS) customs border control confiscated 48 000 counterfeit soccer jerseys worth more than R28 million at the Durban harbour, a spokesman said on Friday, 14 May 2010.

"The consignment of suspected counterfeit jerseys has been detained... Tests to confirm the status of the goods will also be carried out by the lawyers representing Adidas," said SARS customs spokesman Sibabalwenathi Mfabe.

The jerseys were found on Thursday. They had been declared as "pots".
