The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), in association with the University of Pretoria, is delighted to present the ninth International Clinicians' TB/HIV Course in South Africa.
The course includes lectures on TB transmission, drug-resistant TB treatment, GeneXpert, diagnosing TB in children and much more. Targeted at clinicians and health-care practitioners, the cooperative award funding will provide a learning opportunity to 50 doctors and health professionals. There are several places still available and applications are being invited.

Attendance is free to prospective delegates who are approved for registration.
Terms and conditions: Limited places are available and the selection of delegates will be at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee. Only South African citizens and delegates not previously registered are eligible for the free course. Course fees for nonqualifying applicants are available on request. All accommodation, breakfasts and dinners, travel and subsistence costs are to be borne by delegates (or their employers) and arrangements for these must be handled by delegates themselves.
What the course covers:
The course deals with the diagnosis, care and treatment of TB and HIV patients, with a focus on:
-Epidemiological features associated with increased risk for TB and HIV
-Clinical manifestations of Tuberculosis
-Patient populations with special needs/manifestations (e.g. paediatrics or HIV co-infection) available for diagnostics and their appropriate application
-Recommended treatment regimens
-Drug-resistant strains, treatment, care, pharmacokinetics and potential toxicities
-National and provincial policies for TB/HIV diagnosis, treatment and care
-Infection prevention and control policies and strategies.

This course is ideal for clinicians and other healthcare providers in the public sector who are involved in the diagnosis, care and treatment of TB/HIV patients.
