The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa (HSFSA), a national not-for-profit company, is seeking to appoint a Business Development and Marketing Manager to be based in Cape Town. An individual with a Bcomm (marketing) or business science degree will be ideal. The business development and marketing manager is expected to have a strong balanced background in business, marketing and general management. He/She must be able to drive, lead and manage the activities associated with the HSFSAs income-generating programmes, such as the heart mark, which serve the strategic direction of the foundation. He/she is also expected to source “new business’’ and use his/her marketing skills as a strategy for fund-raising and income generation with the purpose of sustaining the foundation, a health non-profit, over the long-term. The business development and marketing manager will assist the CEO in specific business functions within the business unit. He/she will report directly to the CEO.
Minimum requirements- Must be a South African or a permanent resident of South Africa
- Have a certified Bcomm or business science degree with marketing from an accredited higher education institution
- A minimum of 5 years’ business management, marketing and contracting experience in the private and/or public sector
- Business management in the non-profit sector will be an advantage
- Experience with annual auditing processes will be an advantage
- Must have strong interpersonal and negotiating skills, commercial understanding and awareness
- Must be organised with excellent attention to detail, have strong analytical skills, be computer literate, be familiar with accounting software packages, and have the ability to be flexible in a changing business environment
- Must show initiative and have strong leadership skills to instil confidence
- Must be well informed about ethical business practice and the regulatory framework governing this practice
- Must have and maintain a professional demeanour
- Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Must understand contracting for business and operational requirements of the HSFSA and work with the legal team to solidify agreements
- Must be willing to travel and drive to various locations to mobilize the business functions
- A valid driver’s licence for a manual vehicle obtained in South Africa is required
A bachelor of commerce (marketing) or business science and ability to create an enabling environment for the finance team and established networks in the private and public sectors are definite requirements for the job. Experience in working with outsourced vendors will be an advantage.
