STADIO Higher Education is looking for a part time Lecturer: Language conversational sign language 

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Lecture and assess contact learning students in the BEd (foundation phase teaching) and BEd (intermediate phase teaching) programmes in the following module.
         Language conversational sign language (LCSL152)
  • Perform the role and responsibilities of the Lecturer.
  • Collaborate with the module coordinator and module team on teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules
  • Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments.
  • Provide academic support to students.
  • Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
  • Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
  • Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
  • Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
Minimum requirements
  • At least 3 years of teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/disciplines.
  • Must be in possession of a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the subject matter as well as work-based learning (teaching practice).
  • Experience in curriculum and materials development.
  • Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage
Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor of education honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in deaf studies or deaf education.

  • Sound teaching and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisation, administration, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern information technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to cope with change.
  • Willingness to work when required on Saturdays
