Mandela Day at Snow World
It is only impossible until you do it!
This is the message that is embodied in the life and work of Nelson Mandela, so it is appropriate that it is the theme of a Mandela Day motivational talk on Sunday, July 17 by intrepid adventurer Ryan Stramrood at Snow World, GrandWest.
"We decided to start our recognition of Mandela Day 46664 seconds before the Day begins - in recognition of Madiba's prison number and as a reminder of the sacrifice he made to see the change in our country," said Mark Wilson, of Snow World.
At 10.58am on Sunday, July 17, the doors at Snow World will open. The first 100 people who bring a blanket in support of the Little Fighters' Cancer Trust will get free entry to Ryan Stramrood's motivational talk. During Ryans talk, the snow box will be open to the kids.
After the talk, 45 minutes of fun in the snow and on the slides can be had by all. This session will be open to an extra 400 people, and once again a blanket will be your entry fee.
The event is organised under the auspices of the Fair Cape Cares Foundation.
"Little Fighters is one of the beneficiaries of the Trust," said Louis Loubser, CMO of Fair Cape Dairies. "We have run a blanket drive in support of Little Fighters for the past four years, and this year we are excited to have the support of Ryan Stramrood and Snow World."
"Ryan is a great storyteller. He is also an inspirational example of how an 'average Joe' can step up and make a measurable difference to the world, and as such is a true heir to Mandela's legacy."
"Our aim is to collect at least 670 blankets for our little cancer patients and their families," said Mandi Erasmus from Little Fighters. "We are also encouraging people to donate basic, non-perishable food so that we can provide what is needed in the home as well as the hospital."
"We are really grateful for all the support, and we know that the siblings of our cancer patients, who so often have to go without, will really enjoy the fun day out that Snow World is offering them."
If you can't make it on July 17, you can still donate blankets and food to Snow World any time after July 7. Free entry to Snow World will only be on July 17 during the indicated times.
