SALGA Limpopo Provincial Conference

SALGA Limpopo Provincial Conference

The conference is held in terms of SALGA's Constitution which stipulates that the provincial association shall, as often as required by the SALGA National Executive Committee and Provincial Executive Committee, hold a gathering of municipal leaders and deliberate and resolve on pertinent issues facing municipalities before the national conference.

Purpose of the Limpopo provincial elective conference

As the highest SALGA decision-making structure in Limpopo, the provincial members assembly meets to, amongst others:
-Elect new leadership;
-Adopt SALGA provincial programme of action, annual performance plan and budget in respect of the following year;
-Consider reports from the provincial working groups and oversight bodies; and
-Review SALGA's financial performance.

The Conference is convened to give senior local government leaders (mayors, municipal managers, speakers and chief whips) an opportunity to engage in professional development. It will address issues around the local government sector with more delegates coming from all 27 municipalities in Limpopo, sector departments, key stakeholders and labour unions.

The 2016 SALGA Provincial Elective Conference will be held at the Ranch Resort in Polokwane from 20 - 21 September 2016 convened by the provincial executive committee of SALGA.

It is held after local government elections to elect the members of the provincial executive committee and attended by more than 400 delegates including senior decision makers in municipalities made up of mayors, speakers, municipal managers, chief whips and chief financial officers, provincial government, partners and stakeholders within the local government sector as well as business and the media.
