Carrol Boyes Pretoria Charity Open Day 2016
This is our first Carrol Boyes Charity Open Day in Pretoria and it promises to be a unique and exciting event! It's a not to be missed opportunity to buy your favourite Carrol Boyes products at amazing prices, shop for early Christmas gifts and support two worthy charities, all at the same time.
Part of the proceeds from the Carrol Boyes Charity Open Day will be distributed to the following charities:
MonkeyBiz is a charity close to Carrol's heart, a beading project that supports 320 artists. Through their beadwork, MonkeyBiz empowers women to become financially independent, able to support their families and also to revive this traditional art, creating a platform for crafters to become artists in their own right.
The Heartbeat Centre for Community Development is an NGO that focuses on providing educational, health and social services to orphans and vulnerable children and their families in South Africa, focussing on leadership development and social entrepreneurship.
The Medical Research Council estimated in 2002 that "by 2015, some 5.7 million children would have lost one or both parents to AIDS."
To date Heartbeat has supported more than 55 000 orphans and vulnerable children, either through their direct community based interventions or by mentoring and training other community-based organisations on the Heartbeat model. For further information their website is heartbeat.org.za
