Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition arrives in Cape Town's V&A Waterfront for the summer months

One of history's unforgettable stories will be brought to life this summer as Titanic, The Real Artifact Exhibition opens its doors at the V&A Waterfront from 22 November.

A world-class event replete with real artefacts from the doomed ship, the Titanic Artefact Exhibition offers visitors a fascinating insight into this beguiling yet tragic tale as it takes up residence at the Watershed until March 2016.

With a focus on the compelling human stories aboard the ship, the exhibition features real artefacts recovered from the wreckage, as well as meticulously recreated interiors and stunning replica models of the ocean liner and the iceberg that brought her down.

For any Titanic lover or history buff, the exhibition is an unmissable period piece served up in the most breathtaking manner possible. "We're proud to be bringing Titanic, The Real Artifact Exhibition to the V&A Waterfront," says Nick Dreyer, Director of Manic Global, organisers of the event. "This is a world-class exhibition with all the excitement and intrigue of the famous story."

Then there are the genuine artefacts themselves; exhibits so precious that flash photography is prohibited from the show. "To install these pieces, we need a special Titanic handler to make sure that due care is taken," Dreyer says. "These objects are priceless and irreplaceable"

Century-old beer and real champagne bottles stand in view. A stopwatch belonging to hotelier Thomas William Solomon Brown remains in its original condition, while long-lost pastry bowls warped by the acidity of the ocean are another poignant exhibit feature. An original porthole, sea water taps and actual rivets are other memorable relics on display.

This family-friendly exhibition offers an educational and atmospheric insight into one of the world's great dramas. Children can enjoy a Kiddies Activation Zone, created in partnership with the NSRI, while parents are sure to marvel at the human stories dotted throughout the exhibition; an event that has touched the lives of millions around the world.

Outside of the exhibition itself, a Titanic Dining Experience recreates what it was like to dine aboard the Titanic. Two dinner experiences are available: pub grub fare enjoyed by third-class passengers and carefully-paired first-class dishes.

Tickets are available at www.webtickets.co.za and priced for all ages including adults, students, pensioners and children, with special discounts available for groups, school groups and corporates.
