Communication is the ultimate 2-way street, yet there are so many challenges between the message you intend to get across, and the impact your message has on your listeners. Misinterpretations, biases, mistaken assumptions, hidden agendas, preconceptions and potential distractions can all get in the way of your intended communication. We have all experienced this: sometimes, even with the best of intentions, our impact is the exact opposite from what we intended.
In this course we cover Communication Fundamentals such as how to make your message more memorable, and how to tailor it for different audiences, which can help those who routinely present findings or attend important meetings where participation is expected.
In a particular organisation there are many people you may have to communicate with, at different hierarchical levels within, senior - or junior- to your own position, which can be confusing. First covering the different types of communication you will be expected to master in the workplace, we then clarify how to more appropriately communicate within the management hierarchy, with your peers, manager or supervisor, high level executives, and junior employees, or those who report directly to you.
Learning how to make your communication more memorable, regardless of the listener, is crucial to your success in the workplace. The course covers how to use persuasion, your vocal attributes and body language to get your message across and keep it interesting, but remain open and likeable to those you communicate with.
We close the course with an entertaining look at some situational examples of communication gone wrong, how to deal with angry people or belabourers, and how your behaviour influences others. Finally, the 7 C's of communication are covered, to give you some helpful pointers for communicating better for life, both inside and outside work.
