Retail Therapy on Auction
Stephan Welz & Co is hosting a decorative and fine art auction in Cape Town loaded with beautiful and unusual finds from fine art and photography to a treasure trove of furniture and decorative ceramics. Pre-auction viewing is open to the public from Wednesday 14 October to Sunday 18 October, 10am - 5pm.
One of the main highlights going under the hammer is the So Full of Youth-Not Yet Abused by Time art piece by one of South Africa's most internationally watched contemporary artist Nelson Makamo, valued at R150,000 - R200,000. Another highlights is a photograph of Winnie Mandela taken in 1978 at a law office while on her way to visit Nelson Mandela at Robben Island, taken by Peter Magubane as well as a piece by the late Peter Clarke titled 'Lovers'
Anyone who can't attend the auction in person can bid for pieces online via www.the-saleroom.com, a leading portal for live art and antiques auctions. Users of the website can search catalogues and place their bids over the internet in real-time, with live audio and video from the auction room.
