This course has been specifically designed to enable you to master the essentials to design, build and manage professional websites. It will also look at how to create content for mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
Students will be introduced to HTML and CSS coding in Adobe Dreamweaver, as well as using less code intensive WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs like Adobe Muse or Adobe Edge Reflow. This will help to expand their digital design tool kit. We will also take a look at web animation using CSS3 as well as dive into Adobe Edge Animate. Other open source resources and references will be shown and elaborated on.
The course will cover creating, editing, publishing and updating a website and important site
management issues, with the expertise to produce and maintain innovative, professional websites.
- Introduction to the course mapping out some of the themes and topics that will be covered in the course.
- HTML coding and an introduction to Adobe Dreamweaver.
- CSS Coding using Dreamweaver as a code editor.
- Creating sites that adapt for different devices using Media Queries. Also an introduction to Adobe Edge Reflow.
- Web animation using CSS3 and Adobe Edge Animate.
- Using frameworks, an introduction to CMS and an introduction to Adobe Muse.
- Consultation in class while working on your final project.
Pre-requisites:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Learners should be computer literate (comfortable with working on Mac or PC).
- Learners should have a good understanding of Adobe Photoshop.
