Soweto Opera Quadro Live at Soweto Theatre
After receiving rave reviews and playing to sell out houses around South Africa, the Soweto Opera Quadro is ready to take Soweto by storm in their musical show that is called Soweto Opera Quadro and Friends.
This astonishing musical event, which takes audiences on a passionate musical journey comes to Soweto Theatre for three performances only on the 21 August 2015 as part of celebrating women's month. Performances will start from 11.00 am for School Kids and 2pm for elderly people then at 20.00 for general public.
Soweto Opera Quadro group are men who have developed a musical repertoire with astonishing breadth. Like Olympic decathlon athletes, these classically trained, multi-talented operatic tenors and bass can do it all! They have mastered not only operatic music, but also pop, jazz, gospel, soul, new school, Broadway and traditional African music as well.
Soweto Opera Quadro live showcases the extraordinary versatility of four African singers-three tenors and bass. It starts with classical opera and goes on to feature seven more musical styles that span four hundred years of music all in one entertaining show. Soweto Opera Quadro consists of four members who are amazingly versatile and classically trained and bring the house down with their thrilling performances and vocal pyrotechnics. They are Edward Mabunda, Bokang Sehau, Elliot Koena and Luvuyo Mgweba. This show is produced and directed by Soweto opera Quadro and music director is Loyd"Thotho" Mbele. Repertoire ranges from Josh Goban, Caiphus Semenya and Letta Mbuli to Verdi and covers everything to classic, Gospel,Opera, classical jazz, African pop to Christmas music. Songs included are all time favourites like O sole mio sung in Tsonga, you raise me up, Remember when it rained to name few. The show is a voyage of discovery- beginning dreams of a world far removed from the dusty streets of Soweto- a coming age story- to the opera stages of the world! This show will be accompanied by talented Soweto Opera Quadro Band that consists of drums, lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, violin and percussion.
