The short course in A Hands-on Approach to Microcontrollers represents an extraction of the hardware component of the innovation and excellence in teaching award-winning undergraduate module, Microcontrollers EMK310.
The course uses assembly language programming as a vehicle to teach microcontroller hardware concepts. Higher-level programming languages are in many cases too far removed from the hardware to allow delegates to develop a thorough understanding of the hardware that comprises microcontroller devices.
Delegates receive a microcontroller programmer and development board that is used to facilitate the hands-on approach. Presentations take place in sessions of 60-90 minutes, followed by hands-on sessions of 60-90 minutes, to establish practical experience of the material that is covered. The course concludes with a practical assessment.
