Systems Thinking Workshop for Business Leaders

For the first time in South Africa, systems thinking Africa is collaborating with world respected Dr. Martin Reynold's of the Open University (UK) to run two three-day workshops on systems thinking for business leaders. The workshop is particularly helpful for middle to senior managers who are in charge of guiding their organizations or teams through major change, restructuring or big projects

During the month of June. We will be partnering with Dr. Martin Reynolds from the Open University (UK) to offer two workshops aimed at people in organisational management on systems thinking. This is a leadership development course that equips people with skills to deal with complex and messy organizational or societal issues. For organisations, the application could include how to better manage staff across different projects and countries, how to work with power dynamics including issues of management, labour and staff. Systems thinking provides very helpful tools and models that enable the breaking down of silos in organisations. For line managers, systems thinking moves people away from mechanistic and linear activities to a focus on the purpose and vision of the organisation as a system. The important element of the workshop is that we will be using the approach of making systems thinking accessible to the busy manager. We are offering the workshops on the 8-10 June (Whispering pines lodge, Magaliesburg) and again on the 22-24 June (Institute of Directors, 144 Kathrine street Sandton). The 22-24 June is more geared towards the non profit sector and public entities.

Dr. Martin Reynolds is respected globally for his work on critical systems thinking, an approach that helps to better manage situations with multiple stakeholders and power dynamics. Currently Martin is a senior lecturer in Systems Thinking in Practice (STiP) and qualifications director for the postgraduate programme in Systems a Thinking in Practice STiP. His research and scholarship activities are primarily focused on applying critical systems thinking (CST) in relation to evaluation practices, managing the environment, business administration, and international development.
