As stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA), employers are, inter alia, responsible for the acts or omissions of their employees and contractors. The Occupational Health and Safety Act Legal Liability Workshop deals with the basic legal principles applicable to employers, employees, manufacturers and contractors and other persons in the occupational health and safety environments.
Learning outcomes:
After successful completion of the workshop, delegates will be able to
understand the legal responsibilities of all stakeholders
understand the vicarious liability principle
understand which circumstances necessitates the responsibility of an employer to move over to another party
understand their responsibility regarding compliance of the OHSA from an employer, employee, contractor or manufacturer's position, and
understand the role of criminal prosecution when failing to comply to the OHSA.
