Lean management the A3 way

The Lean Management the A3 Way (LMA3) workshop is designed to equip organisations that have embarked on the lean transformation journey to strengthen a culture of problem-solving. It is an interactive workshop that uses the book Managing to Learn by John Shook. A3 coaching forms the key component of the workshop. The workshop teaches tools that empower people to improve value delivery to customers, employees and other key stakeholders continuously. The approach is learning by doing.

Target audience
This two-day workshop is specifically designed for:
• People from organisations that have started the lean transformation journey and who are looking for a way to expedite people's adoption of this new culture - getting them to act their way into a better approach to thinking.
• Managers looking to equip their teams with a structured problem solving approach.
• People who have completed the ITL workshop and are looking to take the next step to continue their lean journey.

Workshop content
Day 1 course content includes:

• Reflecting on the lean work that participants are implementing
• Reviewing 'What is lean?'
• Demonstrating the use of the A3 as a problem-solving and people development tool in support of creating the lean management system
• Showing alternative uses of the A3 and the structure in each case
• Using an A3 in coaching and staff development
• Gaining insights from a 'Managing to Learn' case study
• Creating and presenting your own A3 in sections
• Grasping the problem: current condition and target condition

Day 2 course content includes:
• Continued learning from the 'Managing to Learn' case study through analysis, countermeasures, plan ans follow up
• Practicing to coach others through the A3 approach
• Understanding the leadership elements of the lean management system: gemba walks and the Daily Management System
• Using the A3 with Rother coaching kata
