Annual Business Continuity Management Conference

It is of vital importance, for the sustainability of a company/organisation, to have an ongoing management level process to ensure that necessary steps are taken regularly to identify probable accidents, disasters, emergencies and threats. Every company/organisation has an obligation to ensure that it is adequately prepared to deal with known and unexpected threats. Those companies and organisations which disregard this obligation, face a gauntlet of unacceptable risk. This involves assessment of the potential effect of such events and the development of recovery strategies and plans. Moreover, the level of preparedness and the effectiveness of the response plans must be maintained and improved through testing and personnel awareness and training. It is therefore crucial for the management of any organisation, large or small, public or private, to adopt a suitable business continuity methodology and implement practical management systems to ensure the ongoing success of their enterprise.

Are you and your organisation having challenges or want to keep up to speed at all times with corporate governance, scenario planning as well as your business continuity management here is the opportunity to kill three birds with one stone. Attached is the outline for The 5th Annual Business Continuity Management Conference and Corporate Governance Workshop 2015, taking place on the 10-12 June Southern Sun Monte Casino, Fourways, Sandton.

Pre-conference workshop on corporate governance facilitated by Professor Mervyn King
Good corporate governance has been mandated by law through the Companies Act. Compliance with the King Code of Governance (King III) has also become a requirement for listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Corporate leaders now recognise it as a prerequisite for good management and long-term sustainability of their companies. Less widely recognised is the link between good governance and business continuity management

5th Annual Business Continuity Management Conference
The African continent must be prepared to ensure the continuing performance of critical government functions under all conditions, including emergencies that disrupt normal operations. This capability depends on effective continuity planning that identifies critical functions; identifies the personnel, facilities, and other resources required to continue delivery of those functions; and ensures those resources will be available when needed through coordination with partners and stakeholders. Requirements for state agency continuity planning should be established with additional information on information security rules related to information security standards and effective Frameworks.
post conference workshop on scenario planning facilitated by Chantel IIbury
Effective business continuity planning requires the use of scenarios. Proactive response to the materialising of a scenario will be swifter and more effective than reactive steps taken to the event itself. Effective scenario planning brings scenarios alive, rather than just considering them as mere possibilities.
