This course is designed to equip project managers with the knowledge and skills of the latest techniques and strategies in successful project development and execution. The workshop is designed for practitioners on the national, provincial and local spheres involve with the application of project management for the implementation of institutional programmes and eventually the improvement of service delivery. This workshop is intensive and is uniquely aligned to the public sector and incorporates the key learning areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) with the National Treasury template for Project Management and 2015 Capital Planning Guidelines.
Participants attending this course will be able to:
Understand the concepts "projects" and "project management";
Explain the contribution of project management for organisational success with specific reference to project-based public management;
Understand the logical cycle in the lifespan of a project;
Identify and define public sector projects;
Prepare a detailed plan for a public sector project;
Utilise different tools and techniques to analyse and evaluate the plan;
Implement measures to ensure continuous monitoring and control; and
Demonstrate the integration of the respective knowledge areas in the project plan.
