A six-day course aimed at assisting even the most inexperienced communicator to do just that, communicate. Especially through their writing. The six days are split over two months. Three days in April and three in May.
Everyone in a company whether a receptionist, a manager or the chief executive officer is a communicator, as each conveys various forms of information on the company to stakeholders. Complicated and often boring topics such as financials, HR plans, business goals and initiatives need to be presented in such a way that anyone can understand them. This is not an easy task.
Quo Vadis Communications' popular and unique Organisational Communication Course is designed to assist even the most inexperienced communicator to do just that, communicate. Through theory interspersed with practical exercises, participants on the course are taught how to dissect information to find what's important and to make it interesting. This is vitally important in today's fast-paced information age where you need to know how to get your key messages across as quickly as possible and retain your audience's attention.
Based on the premise that writing is the foundation of communication, participants will during the six-day course:
· complete a variety of written exercises;
· learn about the complex issues surrounding writing and communication;
· begin to understand the principles of good grammar;
· begin to master the skills of writing, editing and subediting;
· understand the importance of proofreading; and work with deadlines which
will equip them to deal with business pressures.
This six-day course runs over two sessions. Participants will only receive a certificate if both sessions are attended in full and all assignments have been submitted.
When:
First session: 20, 21 and 22 April 2015
Second session: 18, 19 and 20 May 2015
(Both sessions must be attended in order to complete the course)
This course has been conducted for the past 25 years by very experienced trainers.
Some of the comments received from past delegates:
Deborah Aremband, Nedbank Capital: "I found the course to be very practical. As the saying goes: "If you read something you forget it, if you hear something you remember it, and if you do something you understand it". That saying epitomises this course. We had to complete assignments based on what we had learnt and therefore left the course really understanding what we learnt. We received extremely constructive feedback that enabled us to visibly improve within the few days of the course. The course material is thorough and the Quo Vadis staff that run the course are professional and have many years of experience. They are happy to share examples of every aspect of the course and this makes the various elements memorable. I think this course may have taught me just as much in six days as my degree did in three years. I would strongly recommend the course to anyone commencing work in the field of communications". It is also great for those who wish to "top-up" or freshen their skills.
This course brings to life basic, everyday principles that can be implemented almost immediately. The lecturers have a deep knowledge of this industry and took an active interest in my communication needs." - Xoli Makubalo, former radio producer for Primedia (702 and Cape Talk). She moved into corporate communications after attending our course.
Says Erna Swart, CEO of the Accounting Standards Board: "This is not a certificate of attendance type course. On completion, an assessment is made of the attendee's skills. If one passes, a certificate is issued. The training is intensive and requires work by the candidates over and above mere attendance! All my staff are required to attend the training."
"This course is one of the most inspiring and empowering courses I have ever done. It was also fun though. It inspired me to love writing and editing. Rvd Father Mark James OP
