This course aims to turn a solid graphic designer into an industry-ready digital design professional. The course will cover the underlying principles of designing for interaction and behaviour. It will teach specific processes and methods to achieve finished work, and grant a concrete understanding of the ever-changing channels and mediums in which digital design lives.
Today's digital designers must be entrepreneurs observing market trends, exploiting innovation, creating intellectual property, and applying aesthetic solutions to enhance the value of a product or service. Often times the digital designer will create the product, not only market existing products.
Prerequisites:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Learners should be proficient in the use of an Apple Mac and Adobe Photoshop.
- Learners should have a solid design foundation; understanding of design basics like layout, typography, colour theory.
About the lecturer:
Nick Hunt-Davis has three consistent passions: Art, technology and people. Lucky for me, being born in the 80s, I hit the educational phase of my time on earth right when my three passions would collide, in a wonderful place called the web. I live digital. I'm a creative who can think strategically. I come from a strong advertising background, specialising in digital design and strategy with a focus on concept, user interaction and engagement.
