Spanish for beginners

The Spanish for Beginners course develops delegates' ability and confidence in basic Spanish communication that can be used in everyday situations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
After successful completion of Module 1, delegates will be able to develop basic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in Spanish, and explore the culture, way of life, customs and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world.

COURSE OUTLINE
Course content is based on the following prescribed material:

Greetings and farewells in different contexts. Introduce yourself to others in educational, occupational, public and personal domains. Ask and give your name, origin or nationality. Show the knowledge you have in other languages. Inquire and report on the profession, the workplace and your position there. Say and set an event in a calendar. Inquire and report on your birthday. Ask about a phone number. Ask and give your contact details to others. Indicate the advantages and disadvantages of different types of accommodation depending on circumstances. Write an announcement. Evaluate and compare accommodation. Describe a house/home. Write and interpret a postal address on/from letters and cards. Indicate and recommend places. Describe sites in a city. Express preference and justify it. Inquire and give physical directions. Call the attention of another person. Ask and tell the time. Locate temporarily an action or event. Talk about your daily activities. Inquire and say the frequency with which you perform different activities. Suggest activities and accept or reject them. Set meetings or dates in the educational, occupational, public and personal domains. Set conditions on the performance of an activity. Make excuses and suggest solutions.

WHO SHOULD ENROL?
Interested public and business people with Hispanic relations.

CLASSES
Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 18:00 to 19:30.
(Course starts on Tuesday the 14th of April) Venue HB 4-21

COURSE FEE (VAT incl.)
R4 503 per delegate. Course fees include prescribed textbook.
