This short course is aimed at learners across a multitude of sectors.
Upon completion of this course learners will be able to determine the media suitable for specific target audiences and describe the systems which should be put in place for briefing the media. Learners will also be able to explain the activities that promote mutual understanding and relationships between the parties and to supply information to the media in the format that best suits their needs. Further, learners will also be able to evaluate media coverage in terms of effectiveness. Finally, learners will be able to plan for a media conference taking into consideration the resources required and be able to schedule the media conference and prepare the programme, media kits and support materials as well as set up a venue for the media conference.
The first day of the course provides the learner with knowledge and understanding of managing the media and relationships with the media, while the second day is focused on media conference training. The course is practical in nature and the last day is focused on a simulation of all the skills learned from day one and two. The course is aligned with the unit standards: Manage media relations (ID number 336017 and Plan and organise a media conference ID number 336021).

The programme is concluded with a practical workplace based assingment.
The short course is endorsed by PRISA (Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa).

Provox is provisionally accredited by the Services SETA.
Even though the short course is aligned with the above unit standards (US 366017 and 366021), and it is not registered with the Services SETA.
