Communication strategy for the public sector

This short course is aimed at elected political leaders and public sector officials involved with the service delivery activities at a strategic level and require the use of public assets to render services to the communities.

The first day of the course provides the learner with knowledge of stakeholder analysis techniques, the gathering, assessing and integration of information in the public sector. The second day the emphasis is on understanding communication or information systems and mapping these with the relevant stakeholders based on their communication and information needs. Furthermore, the course is practical in nature and is aligned with the unit standard: Implement a sector wide communication strategy (ID number 242913).

Programme outcomes:
1. Manage the dissemination of strategic information to all stakeholders.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the impact data dissemination can have on a range of stakeholders.
3. Ensure that systems are in place to manage information flow.
4. Present verbal, written and visual information to a range of stakeholders in order to support communication strategy.

* The short course is endorsed by PRISA (Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa).
* PRISA cpd points are allocated to PRISA members.
* Provox is provisionally accredited by the Services SETA.
* Even though the short course is aligned with the above unit standard (US 242913), it is not registered with the Services SETA.

The programme is concluded with a practical workplace based assignment.
