Producer for stage production

Be a producer for R500 on "nine" to premier at the Baxter Dance Festival.

I am an emerging choreographer. Having recently completed an MA in dance theatre, I am faced with simultaneously needing to platform my work and raise the funds to do so. The Baxter Dance Festival is providing me with this platform by accepting my proposal for its Main Dance Festival in October. I have conceived a piece, but need the funds to make it happen.

A la the remarkable Tim Greene initiative, who succeeded in raising R1 000 000 by getting 1000 people to come on board with R1000, I am inviting 64 people to come on board as producers of my choreographic debut piece, "nine". I am asking R500 per person, which will amount to a total of R32 000. This will cover the fee costs of a dancer, composer, lighting artist and choreographer and administration. You will receive credit in the programme as a producer. The money can be a loan or a donation. If a loan it will be paid back as soon as the company receives funding.

Warmest thanks,
Ruth Levin

"nine"

Be awed by the possibilities of the moving body and captured by an original score composed by the exquisite Neo Muyanga of Blk Sonshine fame.See dancer, Simone Muller, moving within patterns of light. In balancing her body against light and music, her dance is one of astonishing speed and subtle motion. "nine" is about the potential that exists in space. The dance creates a prism of patterns that reflects the movement in universal space and echoes human experience of the world. Muller's delicate and fiery movements are encased in a sculpture of light and given flight through Neo Muyanga's score and Ruth Levin's riveting choreography.
