To Uber or be Ubered? Cloud - a year in review.

DUO Marketing + Communications cordially invites you to join us on the morning of Thursday, 20 November 2014, for an informative look at the effect of cloud on South African businesses over the past year.

Hosted by Steven Ambrose, well-known writer and strategist, the theme for the morning is To Uber or be Ubered? Cloud: a year in review.

Guest speakers include:

Jacques du Toit, CEO of Vox Telecom, will explore how cloud adoption is changing the face of business in South Africa. Cloud isn't a new concept, but it's one that analysts are predicting will be one of the top disruptive technologies over the next few years. It is undoubtedly changing the face of business as we know it and enabling large and small organisations to compete more effectively. In South Africa, unlike in Europe and the US, this cloud adoption and mainstreaming is likely to continue to be driven - not top down, but bottom up - from the SME layer.

Brian Timperely, MD of CloudGate, will explore how cloud is starting to reverse the information tide in South Africa - it has gone from directing information to customers, to channeling information back from customers - to understand what they really want.

Hywel Glyn-Jones, CEO of Open Networks (Google Work premier partner), will give a brief overview of Google's interpretation of cloud computing, and look at the Uber story - a striking example of digital transformation in industries that have remained largely unchanged for a hundred years or more but can be disrupted in under ten.
