From 8 - 11 Oct 2014, 25 Runners and 30 Cyclists battle it out on a 504km journey from the Vaal to Pietermaritzburg for St Vincent School for the Deaf.
ELB Engineering will once again be hosting a unique fundraising event for the St Vincent School for the Deaf.
What is this Extreme Road Challenge about?
The Challenge is about a group of Cyclist's racing a team of long distance runners, from Johannesburg to Pietermaritzburg. There will be five runners in each relay team taking turns to reach their Pietermaritzburg destination whilst hoping to arrive ahead of the rival cyclists.
The rules are simple; the cyclists can only ride during daylight hours, but the runners can run non-stop through the night.
It's going to be a tough, but exciting challenge!
This ELB Extreme Road Challenge, starts on Wednesday 8 of October 2014, and departs from Stone haven on the Vaal. The overnight stops for the cyclists will be in the towns of Reitz, followed by Drakensville, Mooi River and Pietermaritzburg, where the Extreme Road Challenge ends. The Cyclists will continue by completing the Amashova 110km cycle race on Sunday 12 October, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
