Introduction to Python course
Curiosity Campus and Kat-O are bringing Python to the people with a four week crash course that will get the basics of the language under your belt.
Python is a flexible but powerful programming language that is used at several top internet services like Reddit, YouTube, Dropbox and many more. In the last few years, it has also become the teaching language of choice in many top computer science departments in the world.
You will learn about:
- Basic programming concepts like variables, conditional statements, loops, user input, reading writing and writing to file [Session 1]
- Arrays, tuples, dictionaries, functions, objects and classes [Session 2]
- Creating simple interfaces with buttons, text boxes, radio buttons, etc. to make your software look more like standard applications. [Session 3]
- Using PyGame to create simple two dimensional games [Session 4]
Your instructor, Emile Lochner, will cover all the basics required for the students to continue their education once the course ends. Each day will start with a lecture (one to two hours long) followed by intensive practical implementations of the topics covered in the lecture. Exercises not completed during the course would be encouraged to be completed at home. This hands on approach is the best way to learn how to program and Emile will be on hand to assist anyone who gets stuck. This course doesn't require previous programming experience (though it will help a lot), only that you are eager to learn and can bring your own laptop to class.
