"To plant a seed, watch it grow, to tend it and then harvest it, offered a simple but enduring satisfaction. The sense of being the custodian of that small patch of earth offered a taste of freedom." Nelson Mandela
On Madiba Day 2013, we put our stake into the ground to support Refiloe and Amon, of the Bambanani Food and Herb Co-operative in Bertrams. Two acres of organic vegetables are now grown and sold at the Neighbourgoods market in Braamfontein and the Whole Food market at BluBird Shopping Centre.
We are continuing our support in 2014. Join us again on July 18.
We shall mulch, rake, weed and plant for a harvest day planned for early October. We shall also be building an on-site kiosk to make sales directly from the garden possible. Meet the extraordinary Amon and Refiloe whose vision created and maintain a magnificent vegetable garden in the heart of the city.
