A career and job exhibition for learners, student and the unemployed in the rural town of Butterworth, Eastern Cape. It is aimed to stimulate participation and motivation of the youth within rural towns to feel part of a growing economy of South Africa.
We would like to invite your organisation to participate in the first ever 'Rural Expo' to be held in Butterworth, Eastern Cape on 24-25 July 2014. The expo is endorsed and fully supported by the local Mnquma municipality. It is one of a kind that will address rural learners and unemployed youth within the Butterworth surroundings.
Areas under Mquma municipality are heavily hit by youth high unemployment, poverty, lack of access to information. It is also an area with a high number of high schools (49) but learners do not have proper career guidance across careers as compared to developed areas. However it is also an area with potential from the surrounding Walter Sisulu university students, outstanding matric results from schools with limited resources and a highly dedicated municipality in serving the people's needs.
The expo is targeting the following groups:
Grade 11 and 12 learners
Unemployed graduates
Unemployed youth
Drop-outs students
Walter Sisulu universoty and FET students
The expo is targeting approximately 3000 visitors over two days in Msobomvu community hall, two minutes from town.
