Assessor skills course

This course is designed for lecturers, facilitators, assessors and tutors. It offers participants the chance to learn the knowledge and skills required to conduct outcomes-based assessments in their fields of expertise.

This is invaluable for educators considering that these skills form the foundation for a variety of qualifications, especially those in education training and development practices and those in Human Resource development. Completion of this course also signifies that the assessor is able to complete assessments without bias, lending the assessor credibility and legitimacy as a fair practitioner.

Upon completing this course, participants should be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of outcomes-based assessment versus other forms of assessment
Explain the purpose, process and related benefits and challenges of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Prepare for assessments and recognise the special needs of learners
Conduct assessments
Review assessments
Provide feedback on the assessment to the learner in accordance with confidentiality requirements and
Record assessment in line with the requirements of the organisation's quality assurance system
Duration

Three days contact time including facilitation and group activities.
30 days self study after which participants are to submit their portfolio of evidence.
