Encounters South African Documentary Film Festival

From 5 to 15 June, Africa's top documentary film festival, Encounters, returns to Cape Town and Johannesburg for the 16th year. Over the ten-day period, viewers can enjoy over forty local and internationally produced films, carefully selected for their diversity and quality. This year's selection echoes the current worldwide fascination with both Africa and South Africa, but challenges the hype of simplistic catchphrases like 'Africa rising' and '20 years of democracy.'
Included in this year's programme: an Oscar winner, two Sundance winners, four world premieres from South African directors and many other highly acclaimed titles.
