Fine art auction at the Vineyard Hotel
Following on from the incredible success of the 2013 Art Auction at the Vineyard Hotel, where R87,000 was raised for the hotel's CSI fund, this year's event is again set to raise the interest of the country's most enthusiastic and knowledgeable art collectors.
Pieces to be displayed include those by a host of well-known South African artists, such as Walter Batis, Hennie Niemand Snr, Jodi K, Kobus Louw, Pieter van der Westhuizen and David Botha, plus a sprinkling of notable international artists. Previewing will take place from 12:00 to 18:00 in the hotel's conference centre on 24 July 2014, followed by a cocktail function with live music from 18:00 to 19:00. The auction kicks off at 19:00 and will be conducted by Philip Powell of Powell's Auctioneers.
Linda Roos, the head of Social Investment for the Petousis Group, which includes the Vineyard Hotel, the Townhouse Hotel and Oude Werf says, "I'm looking forward to seeing the magnificent pieces of art up in the conference centre, prior to their purchase by established art collectors and newbie art enthusiasts alike. This event promises to give pleasure to its viewers and is sure to contribute valuable funds for a number of worthy causes."
Should guests at the art auction wish to extend their evening's enjoyment with an overnight stay in one of the hotel's splendid rooms, the following rates apply from Thursday, 24 July to Sunday, 27 July 2014: single rooms from R1,395 to R2,095 and double rooms from R1,790 to R2,490, depending on their positioning (courtyard or mountain facing).
