It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the Community of Learning Principals (CoLP) event which will take place on Thursday, 12th June 2014.
CoLP aims to reignite leadership qualities in each principal and provide them with an opportunity to receive input on education related matters in a professional environment. The session is brought to you by The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (University of the Western Cape), MySchool and Symphonia for South Africa.

Topic 1: Molly Blank will showcase and share her reflections, experiences and teachings taken from her work filming Schools That Work. Molly will engage about some of the stories and lessons from her film work.
Bio of speaker: Molly Blank is a documentary filmmaker who began working in South Africa as the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship in 2005. Prior to working in documentary film, Molly taught for two years in a public school in Washington, D.C She holds an M.A. in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in history from Tufts University.
Topic 2: "Is your school ready for teaching and learning Maths and Science in the 21st century?" presented by John Bransby - IT'S no secret that South Africa continues to struggle with the quality of its maths and science teaching and there is a desperate need for practical change and encouragement within this area.
Bio of speaker: John Bransby has taught Science up to Matric level from 1968 - 2012 and is now retired from full-time Science teaching. He has been the Matric Physics Examiner for South Africa in the 1980s for the JMB. Mr Bransby was also the principal of Theodor Herzl, in Port Elizabeth. In addition, he has written, edited and published many Maths and Science teaching and learning aids and books since the 1970s.
