Artist Dinner

A monthly dialogue for artists of all art forms with a primary focus on contemporary African visual arts.

Theme : an international perspective on robust art economies and the art of barter

It was lovely having you the last time so please come through!
In the May edition of the Artist Dinner, we propel the contemporary African art game, into the next frontier! With dialogue that unpacks the composition of a robust art economy - from an international perspective.

We will also be exploring practical innovation, and collaborative effort, amongst African artists and art practitioners, for the purpose of driving personal and collective interest.

Panellists for the discussion include:
1. Nomazulu Taukobong, gallerist and ideator of EST1912 Arts and Culture Hub, and Jacob Lebeko, Curator at UNISA Art Gallery - who recently attended the Infamous Glasgow International Art Biennial, as an effort to re-enforce global art exchange, and gain insight on sustainable art ecosystems and structures, according to global standards.

2. Faya Uman Teekay, Soweto based musician and art activist, who will be sharing insightful dialogue about the value of trade exchange and bartering, for independent producers of art.

The event will also include a summary and development strategy based, on the past edition of the Artist Dinner - The future landscape, of contemporary African art. Please bring your calendar and projects, to share with us, and let us know what is going on in your places and spaces.

Dialogue will be accompanied by dinner, wine, a short acoustic performance by Faya Uman Teekay, at a nominal rate of R50 per head.
