Week 1a: Composition, colour and visual communication
Week 1b: Basic photo science. Light, and exposure - the Golden Formula
Practical: Set up and take pinhole photo, develop film and make contact print in darkroom
Week 2a: Key DSLR camera features - Buttons and settings (aperture and shutter; file size; white balance; manual and auto focus; shooting modes). Exposures - Available light photography (grey cards, lightmeters)
Week 2b: All about lenses: Lens characteristics and selection. Depth of field
Practical: Available light shoot on location
Week 3a: On Camera Flashes and Studio flashes. Portraiture lighting.
Week 3b: Understanding RAW and Introduction to Adobe Lightroom
Practical: Introduction to Studio. Creative studio portraiture and lighting
Week 4a: Shutter speed and nature photography
Week 4b: Adobe Lightroom post editing and manipulation
Practical: Visit game reserve
Week 5a: Close-up and macro photography
Week 5b: Table-top white/blackline photography (practical)
Practical: Food photography
Week 6: Prepare portfolio for exhibition and assessment
