How to talk about the hard stuff

A series of interactive workshops providing parents with tools and age-appropriate information to have conversations with their children around their bodies, who can touch them and where their siblings come from.

This series of workshops is aimed at parents of pre-school children (ages 3-6)
In preschool, children become very curious about other people's bodies, and the differences between boys and girls. If there are siblings on the way, children are curious about how pregnancy happens. These are not always easy subjects to talk about with young children, as parents are often unsure of how much information is enough, and what kind of information is age-appropriate.

The purpose of the workshops is to provide parents with ways to combat the awkwardness that often surrounds these conversations, as well as help them to build a communication platform around the body, so that children feel safe and comfortable to tell their parents if their genitals are sore, with the same amount of ease they would report a sore knee.

Each workshop provides age-appropriate information for the topic, as well as the benefits of having these particular conversations with young children.

The series is made up of three segments, each one building upon the last, where the following topics are discussed:
Workshop 1: How to talk about the human body
Workshop 2: Good touches and bad touches
Workshop 3: How to talk about where babies come from.

The information provided in these workshops is based on the World Health Organization's 2006 Standards for sexuality education, recommended knowledge that children ages 0-4 should have.
