Freshlyground and Falling Mirror at free concertConcerts in the park is pleased to announce that iconic Afro-fusion band Freshlyground and critically acclaimed rock band Falling Mirror will perform on the bandstand stage in De Waal Park on Sunday, 16 March 2014. Falling Mirror will open at 3pm, followed by Freshly Ground at 4.15.pm. Since November last year, De Waal Park has played host to some of South Africa's best musicians and concertgoers who turned out in thousands to support S.A. talent. From jazz to rock, the music drew families and friends, among them locals and visitors, from across the city. "This is the penultimate concert of the summer season, and we definitely aren't going away!" says concert promoter Charles-Lindsay Bowman. "Over the past three years we've hosted amazing local talent and the support from locals and tourists alike has been fantastic." If you're not ready to give up the last bit of summer just yet then pack a picnic, grab your lawn chairs and head to De Waal Park to listen to great music. Access to the concert is free and there will be prizes including a travel voucher worth R10 000 up for grabs! The band released a string of critically acclaimed albums and is known as one of the most unique rock acts in South Africa today. Freshlyground Freshlyground is a South African Afro-fusion band that formed in Cape Town in 2002. The band members hail from South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. Freshlyground's musical style blends elements of traditional South African music (such as kwela and African folk music), blues, jazz, and features of indie rock.
