CANSA Relay For Life East Rand Community 2014

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) will host its third annual CANSA Relay For Life for the East Rand community on 21 and 22 March.

This year it will take place at Hoërskool Hans Moore in Benoni.

Teams can enter for R1,500 for a team of 15 members.

Relay For Life is a fun, overnight team event that raises awareness of cancer and raises much needed funds to fight cancer. During the relay, teams of 10-15 co-workers, friends, neighbours and families commit to keeping at least one member walking the track at all times because cancer never sleeps. Each team member submits a registration fee of R100 (ages 13 and up), children between 6 and 12 years register at R50 each and children under six years are free.

During the second annual event last year, the East Rand community came together to celebrate cancer survivorship; remembered those lost to the disease and together 203 teams with over 4 500 participants and 217 cancer survivors fought back against this dreaded disease. They raised nearly R1,5 million in the global fight against cancer.

This year their goal is to encourage the East Rand community to live healthy lives, be proactive with early detection screenings and much more with at least 250 teams and 250 cancer survivors from the community. They hope to raise at least R1,5 million.

The event is guaranteed to be fun-filled and exciting with many surprises in store. with entertainment by various local artists.
