Following the line up of great acts that performed at the Soweto Art & Craft Fair in 2013 - this March, Concerts SA will once again provide support to this ground breaking craft fair, by proudly bringing to the stage two break-out young acts, namely the popular Jazzy neo-folk trio The Fridge; as well as a new eclectic trio called Shakalarger.

15:00 Shakalarger perform
17:00 The Fridge perform
Thanks to the introduction of the Rea Vaya BRT buses, the Soweto theatre is easily accessible from most parts of central Johannesburg. Routes and times can be found at http://www.reavaya.co.za/.
THE FRIDGE
A popular Johannesburg based neo-jazz trio that forms its sound from the urban space it was conceived in. "Sophisticatedly Easy" in its look and sound, "The Fridge" have very few counterparts and many imitators. Their unconventional approach to the iconic genre of jazz is both risky and refreshing. Pushing the envelope and fusing together jazz, African folk and soul sounds.
SHARKALARGER
Shakalarger is an acoustic outfit founded by songstress Bakae Maesela & Mfundo Magubane on vocals & guitar. Come 2013, the duo was bursting at the seams with inspiration from the music & art they were surrounded by, and so began their journey into making their own music. There were stories to be told, & it was their calling to tell these stories of life & love, one riddim at a time. Drawing their influences from Jazz; folk & neo soul; this outfit is focused on spreading the message of Love, through their own love of music. Fiery, Hot & Vibrant just like chakalaka; they are Shakalarger!
CONCERTS SA

The project aims to stimulate live music in South Africa by finding and implementing ways to create regular, sustainable performance platforms.
