UIA2014 Durban
The 25th International Union of Architects World Congress, UIA2014 Durban, is being held at the International Convention Centre in Durban (ICC) from 3-7 August 2014.
Held every three years, this is the first time this international Congress is being held in sub-Saharan African and 6000 delegates are expected to attend. The event will bring together professionals of the built environment to debate and discuss alternative strategies for the design and delivery of more habitable/humane human settlements.
The theme of this year's UIA Congress is 'architecture OTHERWHERE', which celebrates diversity by exploring Other Thinking, Other Practice, Other Disciplines and Other ways of teaching , thinking and practicing architecture. The main theme and sub-themes of Ecology, Resilience and values will be unpacked by an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, leaders in innovation, thinkers,intellectuals and all those involved in the making of cities, through workshops, seminars and experiential activities. Also includes a Student Congress.
