Bubbles&Braai now a signature event at the Grande

Such has been the success of the various #Bubbles&Braai evenings that they have now become signature events of the Grande Roche Hotel.

Underlining the quest to offer guests something completely different, the hotel has seen the popularity grow and as a Culinary Innovation this has certainly lived up to its name. This Winelands Boma experience ensures an evening of conviviality and sublime food!
The skilful pairing of the best bubblies on offer with a braai, considered an informal South African tradition, has shown that bubbly is a drink for every occasion and that a braai can be a gourmet treat. Methode Cap Classique (MCC) complements the dishes handsomely and past events have seen guests raise many a toast to this unusual and sensory pairing.
Not to be missed then is the next #Bubbles&Braai on Saturday, March 1. The evening will consist not only of the wonderful food and wine pairing but guests will be entertained with the excellent music from top band, The Mix. This extremely versatile band knows how to set the mood for any type of function - the guarantee of a memorable evening.
Guests will taste the celebrated Cap Classique wines from the Grier family's Villiera. This has become a speciality of this well-loved farm through a joint venture with Frenchman and Champagne specialist Jean Louis Denois in the mid 1980s. Culminating in some of the finest Methode Cap Classique sparkling wines in the country, the current highly acclaimed range includes a non-vintage Tradition Brut and Tradition Rosé Brut, Villiera Monro Brut and the additive-free Villiera Brut Natural.
Silverthorn's terroir, with its rocky, lime-rich, shale soil, close to the Breede River outside Robertson is similar to the famous Champagne soils in France. Entering into the world of Cap Classique with their Chardonnay grapes saw the popularity of their excellent 'The Green Man' which was followed by their rosé 'Genie'. Adding a much anticipated third sparkling wine to the range in 2012, Silverthorn's Special Cuvée, 'Jewel Box', is a classic French blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Add to the mix the delightfully different Rickety Bridge MCC Brut Rosé NV and Blanc de Blancs 2009 and guests are certainly in for a treat. With a winemaking history dating back to the 17th Century this winery is situated less than 3kms from the centre of Franschoek and is shadowed by the Dassenberg mountains. The mild Franschhoek valley is the perfect canvas for new winemaker Wynand Grobler to create a portfolio of outstanding Franschhoek wines. Rickety Bridge wine estate is undoubtedly one of the most progressive boutique wineries in the Cape. The historic wine making cellar was recently renovated and converted into a barrel fermentation centre, the new winery was built and modern cooling equipment was installed.

As the name implies, these are no ordinary evenings! The culinary alchemy of Michelin trained Executive Chef Roland Gorgosilich has changed the way braaiing is done. As he and his team conjure up a veritable feast of delectable seafood, traditional steaks, ribs and chops the difference is in the preparation and imagination that takes the braai to new heights and creates a Winelands Boma experience of note. Salads become a delectable mix of tantalizing flavours and side dishes are presented with gourmet flair.

Informal and informative guests get the opportunity to meet the winemakers, to dance alongside the pool to the musical entertainment and to enjoy a South African tradition in a different way!
