Valentine’s Day romance at the Vineyard Hotel

Look no further than the Vineyard Hotel for a memorable and romantic Valentine's Day celebratory dinner for you and your loved one on 14 February.

The Vineyard Hotel has two special options to choose from depending on whether you prefer an indoor or an outdoor dining experience.

Inside, under its popular glass-domed roof, the contemporary Square Restaurant will be serving a three-course meal for R345 per person. The starter is a delicious cured salmon trout terrine with a spicy basil panna-cotta and a macerated strawberry and crisp paprika-infused tortilla.

For the main course, tuck into a fillet of karan beef with scrumptious potato fondant, baby beets, wild mushrooms and an asparagus and bordelaise jus. Then to round off the meal, couples can indulge in a shared tasting plate of dainty cherry-filled chocolate cones with a raspberry and vanilla crème brulee and a sugar-glazed lemon tart.

For diners wishing to star-gaze and perhaps hear the hoot of a nesting owl, an al fresco dining experience on the banks of the Liesbeek River will be just the ticket. The three-course menu is R475 per person and begins with a phyllo wrapped cranberry and camembert cheese served with beetroot puree, candied cashews, roasted capsicum, crispy onion and a fresh herb salad with a delightful citrus dressing.

For mains, tuck into a seafood sharing platter packed with everything indulgent and best-loved from South African waters. The platter includes freshly-grilled crayfish tails in a parsley and paprika butter, prawns and linefish on a lemongrass skewer, crispy tempura crab and avocado makimono, steamed mussels in a cream and white wine sauce, tender calamari steaks with sun-dried tomato pesto, all served on a bed of pilaf rice. And for a sweet ending, couples can share a tasting plate of cherry-filled chocolate cones with a raspberry and vanilla crème brulee served with a sugar-glazed lemon tart.

Both the al fresco and indoor menus include a palate-cleansing mojito sorbet between the starter and main courses.
