Jennifer Eaves Trio perform for Friday Nite LIVE!The weekend kicks off with folk-rock band Jennifer Eaves Trio for Friday Nite Live! On Saturday, Wana Africa brings their African fusion music to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage; and on Sunday kick back and relax to the blues tunes of Mark Buchanan Duo. Singer/songwriter Jennifer Eaves performs on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage for Friday Nite LIVE! Jenny has been performing original music in and around Cape Town for the last decade and after a brief hiatus, ensued with the business of life, marriage and most recently the birth of her son, Jenny is back with a vengeance. Her powerful lyrics - based on spirituality, life experience and a growing sense of the injustice she sees around her - weave into a folk-rock style with an occasional country influence. Her album was released in 2012 showcasing lyrical story telling coupled with meandering melodies and harmonies. Jenny will be accompanied by the guitar and cajon. On Saturday, gear up for a spirited performance as Wana Africa return to the Sound Stage. Wana Africa plays a fusion of Central-Southern African vibes with Zouk beats. The band is made up of Robert Sakanyi from Zambia (composer, lead vocalist and guitarist), Bienvenue from Congo (jazz guitarist), Khatou Nematei (co- founder of LIW records and Live Instrument Worship Band, and skilled pianist), Christian Bakalanga from the DRC (professional guitarist), Loic Bolomo from the DRC (skilled drummer) and Takalani Tshikovhi (bass guitarist). The weekend winds down with the performance by brothers Mark and Ian Buchanan. The duo's love for blues music started at an early age. Mark's passion for music led him to Johannesburg to play music professionally for 8 years. He has performed with a number of artists including Just Jinger, Max Normal and The Original Evergreens. Mark is currently playing in Closet Snare an electronic jazz outfit in Cape Town and also performing acoustic originals. Together, these brothers give audiences a heavy dose of smooth blues music and the perfect way to wind off the weekend. Bay Harbour Market is open from 5 pm to 9 pm for Friday Nite LIVE! and from 9.30 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entrance is free.
