Namibia Procurement Supply Chain/Logistics Summit

A senior level summit for decision makers, with responsibility for procurement, supply chain and logistics in Namibia.

Namibia to host a major supply chain and logistics summit.

The Namibia procurement supply chain and logistics summit is an event scheduled for 27 and 28 February at the Safari Court Hotel and Conference Centre in Windhoek, Namibia. The summit is to bring together professionals and organisations within the supply chain fraternity -procurement executives, suppliers, distributors, warehousing, brokers, shipping and freight forwarding agents, logistics/transport operators, government, academics and so on. The NPSCLS 2014 is aimed at equipping delegates with the necessary expert information, industry insights, current trends and forecasts plus face to face deal making opportunities for achieving value for money through implementing effective strategies, risk management measures and innovation in the Supply Chain, Procurement and Logistics industry in Namibia.

Speaking from his office in Johannesburg Mr Prince Madziva the director of AfriClan Ltd who are the organisers of this initiative said "The summit couldn't have come at a better time as the draft bill overhauling procurement in Namibia is currently passing through the national assembly and repeals the Tender Board Act of 1996, which is described as no longer sufficient or adequate to achieve the country's developmental objectives. All this presents exciting times for Namibia as new bodies - the Public Procurement Policy Office, Central Procurement Board, a number of public procurement entities and an Independent Review Board - will be established. The draft bill which will be topical at this summit is also aimed to boost jobs through local sourcing."

The NPSCLS 2014 will seek to position Namibia as a key player in global logistics and supply chain which services the southern Africa region through its ports and well developed transit corridors and networks. The fact that Namport's Walvis Bay expansion will commence in 2014 speaks volumes of the commitment and readiness for business in Namibia's supply chain and logistics industries.

The NPSCLS 2014 summit has been carefully and thoroughly designed using case studies from supply chains of leading brands and governments in Africa. The case studies will through this conference address challenges, strategic approaches and opportunities in Namibia that emphasize supply chains, procurement and logistics.
