Accounting Standards Board Workshop

The Accounting Standards Board (ASB) and the SAICA Cape Town Public Sector Forum will be hosting a workshop that will cover the following:

- An update of the ASB's activities and its future work plan, including a discussion on any newly effective Standards and the status of Standards issued but not yet effective.
- Amendments to Standard of GRAP on Service Concession Arrangements.
- Amendments to Standard of GRAP on Statutory Receivables.
- Proposed Improvements to the Standards of GRAP for 2013.
- Reporting by Government Business Enterprises - The status quo and assessing future reporting requirements.
- Post-implementation reviews of Standards of GRAP.

This objective of this workshop is:

•To provide an update of the ASB's current and future projects.
•For the ASB to outline proposed Standards and/or amendments to Standards and to receive feedback on these proposals from practitioners, auditors and other interested parties.
•For the ASB to engage with constituents about issues relating to the adoption of the Standards of GRAP.

Who should attend?
Members and non-members who are practitioners or auditors involved in the public sector as well those who want to learn more about the Public Sector Accounting Standards.

About the presenter: Jeanine PoggioliniCA(SA)
Jeanine Poggiolini is a project manager at the Accounting Standards Board (ASB) and has been responsible for a number of projects, including financial instruments, employee benefits and developing requirements for principal-agent activities. She also serves on a number of audit and other committees locally. She was appointed as the South African representative on the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board in 2011.

About the presenter: TsholoTshokeCA(SA)
Tsholo Tshoke is a junior project manager at the Accounting Standards Board (ASB), who is responsible for the development of Standards of GRAP. She has been involved in a number of projects, including improvements to Standards of GRAP, post implementation review of Standards of GRAP and the Discussion Paper on Accounting for Principal-Agent Activities in the Public Sector.
