National Marriage Week

This initiative will occur from 1 to 7 September and serve as an awareness campaign and project that will inspire couples to focus on the well-being of their marriage. This project is launched and managed by INTIEM magazine, a bimonthly marriage magazine in cooperation with ULSANIC and Intimacy4Us.

Various media platforms, celebrities, business and counsellors will be taking part in this initiative. Government leaders will also be involved in the project. "Failed marriages are a national crisis in South Africa that needs to be addressed urgently, because divorces have a direct influence on the welfare of our society. Crime, depression, unemployment and alcoholism often results out of broken homes. Healthy marriages cultivate a youth with a bright future," stated Annelize Steyn, editor of INTIEM.

From 1 Aug 2013 the website of National Marriage week (www.myhuwelik.co.za and www.mymarriage.co.za) will give individuals the opportunity to register and to gain access to texts, calendars, gift vouchers and discount coupons. Free counsel sessions and contact information of marriage experts will also be available, among other things.

Elanie van Eeden, coordinator of National Marriage week, says: "It is time for everyone to take hands and stand up for marriage as a holy institution. We call unto couples to take responsibility for their marriage and to be pro-active in battle against divorce. Everyone deserves a happy marriage and every child deserves the positive consequences thereof."
