Plant Optimisation Course

The plant optimisation course is designed for mining industry practitioners who are operating in the highly pressurised environment when a multi-faceted approach is a prerequisite.

The plant optimisation course is designed for mining industry practitioners who are operating in the highly pressurised environment when a multi-faceted approach is a prerequisite. Cash flow is constrained, environmental regulations are tightening, labour mobility is high, feed grades are declining, metal prices are volatile, yet they are expected to meet, and exceed their Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and keep the company running efficiently.

In this workshop, attendees will learn:

• The project phases from initial study, process engineering, commissioning through to operations
• Mine-to-mill co-operation; benefits from improved synergies between the two
• Identifying the revenue drivers in your plant
• Optimisation techniques: what to prioritise first and what can be done later
• Calculate the limits of plant productivity
• Maximise the use of your limited resources
• Metallurgical Accounting and Reconciliation techniques
• The importance of process stability in the plant optimisation process
• Selecting the correct technology to optimise production efficiencies
• The importance of accurate data for plant optimisation and troubleshooting purposes.

The course facilitator has 36 years mining experience on four continents. His expertise encompasses plant operations, process optimisation, plant troubleshooting and debottlenecking, a long list of plant commissioning, process design, heap leaching as well as consulting. He has covered a number of metals including but not limited to: aluminium, nickel, copper, cobalt, gold, lead, zinc and silver.

Expertise: Plant troubleshooting, commissioning and debottlenecking specialist. Flotation and SAG milling expert. Heap leaching practitioner.
